Cuvée – Milwaukee

Cuvée is described as a “classy and unique” Milwaukee venue space in the heart of the Third Ward just south of Downtown. It boasts a great selection of champagne and a balanced approach to historic and sophisticated.

With the urban environment so rich, especially in this part of Milwaukee, Cuvée is able to stay relevant.  If you want to reserve your prime date, make sure you book at least one to one-and-a-half years in advance for your choice of Saturday.

Wedding Cocktail Music Ideas

Cocktail and guest arrival music sets the mood for an enchanted and elegant evening. Here are some of our most popular requests:

  • Vitamin String Quartet – They combine a classical sound with a contemporary vitamin-string-quartetflair. With covers from the rockin Sweet Child o’ Mine and Smells Like Teen Spirit to a more pop standard Alejandro, VSQ will make any room dazzel with delight. Listen | View
  • Scott Bradlee & Post Modern Jukebox – This group, while similar to the quartet in the covers they perform, PMJ takes this one step further with some quirky and fun vocals.  Listen | View
  • frankFrank Sinatra Standards – Well, this is the obvious standard 1940s and early 50s sound that is from the big band and jazz era. Familar artists include Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole among many others.
  • Adult Contemporary Standards – Songs that are vocal and newer, but aren’t typical dance songs fit well into this category. Examples would be: Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias,  Michael Buble’ and Jason Mraz. (Each decade of music has it’s own contemporary stars, see this wiki article for details)
  • Country Classic Standards – Simple, yet very American. Country is still one of the top non-urban. Here are the top 100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone.
  • Classical Standards – While this is certainly an option, it is by far the least popular. Artists like Bach, Beethoven and Mozart top this list of music icons. But, they are reinvented with the Vitamin String quartet and Post Modern Jukebox.

Wedding Themes: Vintage

What even is a vintage wedding?
Vintage weddings don’t usually attempt to recreate a particular historical moment in wedding history. Rather, couples hodgepodge aesthetically pleasing pieces from many eras of history to create something unique to their tastes and vision.

Why choose a vintage wedding?
Flexibility! Rather than feeling pressured to create a certain kind of thing, you have the freedom to experiment, to mix and match, and to fit every element to your budget. And you’ll have a great excuse to go thrift shopping and browse Etsy!

What’s the big picture?
Some of the popular style elements of vintage weddings include loose floral designs and soft colors. Wooden boxes and baskets, lace fabrics, and glass bottles are all popular table decor and more. Do-it-yourself and handmade items are also common for invitations, party favors, and decor.

Your vintage theme can carry into your engagement photos as well!

The importance of Things
Vintage wedding dresses are all the rage on Etsy, and they come in all styles, lengths, and colors. You could also ask your grandmothers or aunts if they still have their wedding gowns and would permit them to be altered for you – most of the time, your relatives would be honored and pleased at such a request.

But it’s not just the dress – it’s also the entire decor of your wedding. Thrift stores and Etsy shops are replete with gorgeous suitcases, pottery, lace tablecloths, books, teapots. All of these things can be used as-is or repurposed as a card box or centerpiece. This is your day: find things that appeal to you and let your creativity run free!

2014 Wedding Expo Survial Guide: 7 Must Read Tips To Make Every Expo EASIER!

So, in our years and years of experience at wedding expos, these are the top things that couples should think about before making the venture out to check out wedding vendors…

7.  Bring some way to mark the vendors you like.  Use a sticker like a happy face or star to remind you that you liked them!  At most expos, you may encounter 50-70 wedding vendors, many of whom you may need.  Keeping the good from the bad is essential!

6.  Bring preprinted name, wedding date, address, email, phone labels.  Many vendors still have paper sign-ups.

5.  Create an email just for you and your vendors that you can let go of after your wedding.  This will help keep you focused on the things most important and easily sort through wedding junk.  Most vendors will contact you a lot via email.   We have the best intentions, but sometimes it can get too much.

4.  Don’t sign-up for everything, no matter how tempting the prize.  You will be on their mailing list when you don’t need their service.  Most vendors use this as a tease to get your name.  Resist to give your info to only the vendors YOU REALLY NEED.

3.  Arrive early, but not too early.  Normally there is a line to get in when the show first opens.  Don’t worry, you’re not going to miss anything until the fashion show starts.  And you normally have another hour after that to finish mingling at the expo.

2.  Pick out 3, 4 at the most 5 vendor types that you need.  The most important ones are the ones you want to find and talk to.  Later on, we will discuss some common questions to ask to better qualify a particular vendor to your wedding besides price.

1.  Wear comfy shoes and clothes.  Avoid being too casual, as this will make you less likely to be taken serious.

If you have ideas, let us know!  We’d love to pass them along.  And if you are looking for some local expos, check our favorite wedding expos!

Best Man Speeches 101 – The Diary of the Groom

One of the most creative and entertaining (not to mention funny) best man speeches I’ve seen in a long time was at my friend Eric’s wedding last year.  His best man asked him a few questions, obviously knew him quite well and created some great quips about the history of the grooms relationships, his engagement and the feelings he kept “secret” but needed to express via his best man.

Here are some ideas of “real” diary entry’s:

August 24 – meet a great girl

August 25 – this might be the one, but i doubt it – AGAIN

September 16 – first date jitters

September 17 – post first date awesome feelings

September 18 – she called me!

Thanksgiving – She said YES!!

TODAY – She married me!!!
